  • Yosemite National Park – Bridal Veil Fall

Do not pursue what is illusory – property and position: all that is gained at the expense
of your nerves decade after decade and can be confiscated in one fell night. Live with a steady
superiority over life – don’t be afraid of misfortune, and do not yearn after happiness; it is after all,
all the same: the bitter doesn’t last forever, and the sweet never fills the cup to overflowing.
    Alexander Solzhenitsyn

  • Bridal Veil Falls?  Hmmm…I wonder why they call it that?

  • solzhenitsyn is by far my favorite russian writer. there’s something to his words, I can’t quite place my finger on it, but it gets to me, every time.

    beautiful photo as always.

  • I dig ol’ Solzhy.

And is it just me or does that picture conjure up something a little, uh, naughty?  Maybe I’m just of that frame of mind here lately.

Nice falls, though.  I love this park.

  • I always wanted to live right under waterfalls… in the caves where the water is the door or curtain that shields me from everything else.

If not a dog person… then a cat person?

  • Right. Lovely.

  • wow pretty.

  • I have that photo someplace in black and white, or one just about like it.  When I was a kid, we went out that way and I remember the fellow who developed the photos for me telling me it was a good shot.   I took it with a little ol’ box camera.   I need to look that up…..

Didn’t they put Solzhenitsyn in prison for his ideas?   He must have been a very brave man.

  • What a great pic:coolman:

  • love, love, LOVE the quote.

  • I love waterfalls.

  • oh, it’s lovely! too bad the first (and possibly last time) i was at Yosemite, the falls weren’t flowing so nicely… it probably liked you better. :D

  • Beautiful!

    Enjoy your weekend!

    *kiss*

… I’m off to catch up.

  • :coolman:WOW…what a beautiful pix…huggs…Sassy

  • Another wonderful picture. I love waterfalls.

  • Beautiful.:sunny:

  • I can see where the name came from. Great picture. :goodjob:

  • that’s so beautiful…  :wha:

  • LOL! I hit the wrong smiley!

    I meant:
    “that’s so beautiful…  :sunny:”

    sheesh.

    talk about mixed messages… :wha:

  •  What a refreshing photo. And I like the juxtaposition of the quote saying”overflows” & a waterfall.

  • ah,

i am overwhelmed by the apt choices in your quotations. so true, so true.

particularly the shadow and the tree.

have a pancake, go ahead, it’s on me.

  • :sunny: Thanks for that!

  • If only I was stringent enough to follow his advice.  I spend most of my waking and sleeping hours yearning after happiness.  It’s so damn elusive though isn’t it.  But, he’s right.  The cup is never overflowing.  Great words to follow a spectacular view.

  • Solzhenitsyn said some great things. And speaking underneath a wondrous waterfall makes him even more listenable.

  • Thanks! I can’t wait to get back home. Love the new profile pic!

  • ack! that’s a beautiful moment/shot!

  • What a great photo and quote!

  • how very right.. nothing lasts forever.. the moment is all that we should live by.. then we’ll be more ‘alive’.

and thank you for reading beyond what i said.. it is giving in and not giving up..

  • ah. the Russians. great quote, Madame. (and thanks for ‘splaining what manzanita’s are *g*). namaste.
