  • Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron. Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890 – 1969), From a speech before the American Society of Newspaper Editors, April 16, 1963

it takes only 20 seconds of war to destroy him.”

  • “So many gods, so many creeds,
so many paths that wind and wind
while just the art of being kind
is all the sad world needs.”
    – Ella Wheeler Wilcox

  • “In Europe, the culture of centuries had been destroyed. Still worse, both Allied and Axis countries had lost vast numbers of their finest men, causing a possible decline in the genetic qualities of the human race. This was the outcome of modern power, of science and technology, of the aviation to which I had devoted so much of my life.” Charles A. Lindbergh

  • Expect to see a snowman built by you …

I wondered who the quote came from and was a bit surprised.

I agree about the waste of men and money, of cultures and creatures.   But what do you suggest we do when someone threatens us?    Turn the other cheek is fine, till you run out of cheeks.

    Just wondering.

And of course, I love the photo.   Catholic Church?    Could you possibly go inside and get some stained glass pics for us??
