oh i love that book *gift from the sea*. my husband found me a very old copy years ago at a bookstore/junkstore/thrifty type thing…and it has the most gorgeous painted pictures of the channel whelk, and all those shells she found.

My favorite book, favorite place and favorite feeling, open like the beach. My sis has been finding lots of beach glass, all tumbled and dulled by the sand, just like us, born into the world and then tumbled this way and that, changing, our souls being buffed to a soft luster. If we don’t struggle too much and try to let the world do it’s job, we end up more beautiful than at the beginning.

i love those rocks! look at that sand-blasted patina. i have seen rocks like that in the desert… did you take that near to where you live?
wow, this really makes me long for a stroll along the beach…
i took this on Leucadia Beach which is south of Long Beach, near San Diego. you should see all the shots i have! it’s amazing that i didn’t bump into someone because my head was down taking photos the entire time! glad you like it
