i know, i don’t usually post things like this, but i couldn’t help myself with all the hubbub going on about the recent Christo work currently in Central Park. Go HERE for the New York Times article.
“The Crackers” 2005
Gift to the City — is it Art or for the Birds? “The Crackers” is as much a public happening as it is a tasty snack, defying the domino theory. Peanut butter or cheddar cheese. They poured their hearts and souls into the project for over 26 minutes. It required three dozen crackers and spanned over nearly 23 inches along a footbridge in the park at a cost (borne exclusively by the artists) of $2.50. Is it art? You decide. The installation was completed with no permits or bureaucracy, and fed to the ducks after about a half hour.

*laugh* nice
brilliant, and alot more cost-effective (and tasty) than the art they symbolize! thanks, april
awe man, now i’m art-full and cracker-hungry…such a dilema!
i like it! ;P
LOL
teehee… and people say that Po Mo is dead…
lol!
Art, yes, but is it a rip-off, or is it made by the other “art” behind?
Oh, thanks for that. Certainly ripe for parody.
hey, if they had some time why not… it was pretty cute and if it made a few people laugh it was worth it :sunny: :fun:
orange duck poop
that would make a great advertisement. already, i am tempted to go buy some crackers. i am such a consumer.
but that really is marvelous… the orange crackers and the orange flags.
hahahahahaha!!!!!

You’ve succeeded in making me very hungry!

If I’m going to jump in the blender, I wanna be in charge of the control buttons!
That was the funniest thing I’ve read all week. The spoof review absolutely cracked me up…
And if you think about it beyond the first quick laugh, there’s much irony in “…at a cost (borne exclusively by the artists) of $2.50.”
I did get a little tired of all the emphasis on the 20 Mil they spent.
Ahahaha! That is beyond cool. Far beyond cool.
Bravo!!! Bravo!!!
Actually, I really like this image!
I’m glad you did it.
 thank you dearest Molly, thats’ just what i needed this gray and cold morning… oh,,, well, that laugh and some coffee.. always coffee. *wink

As always, I’m sucked up by all the other commentors, but you amaze me continually.
Love it
Yes, I really enjoy collage and paper-based artwork including assemblage. Used to create this way actively years ago. I’m looking at collage again as another outlet.
 This is fantastic! I just about jumped out of my chair when I saw it. “Is it art? You decide.” I am going to have to forward this on to a few people I know who have made their decision on the tarp art. Thanks for posting this, I really needed it today.
:goodjob:
this was a nice change of pace yesterday and I even browsed their website, then ended up at the tribute to the NYC firefighter… simple things, deep feelings, just as life leaves us grinning over the most silly notions and spur of the moment playful ideas… then zaps us with awareness of how instantaneous and precious LIFE is.
I just love your photos and continue to come back and brows… the ice piks are just glorious!
You’re a genius and I’m hungry. ’nuff said…

I’ll show you the way.

oh man i love this!!
oh man i love this!!
Dear Molly,
I hadn’t been over to sample your photography in a while, but I just had to comment on this link to “The Crackers”. Gave me my biggest laugh of the month, perhaps the year. I went to the “Crackers” website, where they have a “Crackers” Store where you can buy postcards and tshirts. Very funny, and thanks for posting the link, and the photo.
