Some leaves hang late, some fall
    before the first frost–so goes
the tale of winter branches and old bones.

  • nice… I like it. :heartbeat:

  • last time i drove past harmony, there was this huge sign, “town for sale.”

  • whoa, only 18 people in a town.  Crazy.

  • That is smaller than Dempster, SD – 27.

  • friends of mine have discussed buying it before; from what i understand it’s been for sale many times.
wouldn’t it be great to live in town called ~harmony~?

  • MOLLY! MOLLY! MOLLY! MOLLY! I was gonna ask you if that last picture was from Harmony, I LOVE that place! I took pictures there at about 7:30 a.m. before anyone was there. Except, of course, for the biker that stopped and put his bike right in the middle of the picture I was composing. :-/

    Nice pic.

  • When we took a trip out west, we drove through a town in Montana that had a sign that said, “Population – 20″.  As we drove through it, we passed a funeral at the church.  My husband said, “Now they’ll have to change their sign.”

  • i love the texture of that photo. i can almost feel it…

  • Nice photo! Excuse me while I spin some more… :spinning:

  • I always find it hard to photograph objects that are somehow works of art in thier own right. But the angle you chose is just the right touch.

    Still taking notes.

  • P.S.

    Awsome poet!

  • amazing. and I love william carlos williams!

  • Feel it? Hell, I can almost smell it. Smells like earth.

  • Was that one of the inhabitants?

  • love the placement.

  • love the placement.

  • that shot below, is wonderfully perfect. phenomenal.

  • WCW is one of my favorite Modern Poets…i would have loved to have known him in person. Brilliant matching between photo and quote, cher ami :)

  • population 18; that sounds wonderful :goodjob:

  • this is probably one of my favorites (of yours). i really like the texture of the wall.

  • The perfect quote for the picture.

  • I can never seem to see a sun-bleached cow skull without thinking of O’Keefe…  which always makes me think of New Mexico…   which always makes me smile.

  • damn you’re good… makes me so jealous ~ jack

  • Wow. Cool foto, stared at it for ages and ages gone.

  • With only 18 occupants I should think there would be Harmony.

Soup is on the menu today actually. Sin moscas.

  • Was the population count before or after you found this skull? :>)

I hope your trip to Montreal goes well and yields worthy results whatever your intent for traveling.

And, of course, remarkable photograph with just the right touch of poetry.

Does literature come to mind prior to or during your photo-taking? Does it simmer in your subconscious and possibly affect the composition and subject that you select for an image? I’m just curious how literature interacts with your process during the post-production when you post image and word.

  • ryc: Yep, that’s my writing. I need all the lines to keep me from running off the page.

  • yer, killin’ me!

  • :sunny: I love this!  Great comp and the texture and detail in this are wonderful.  Great job as always!  :coolman:

  • What a cool shot!  This would make a great book cover for a story about the Southwest.

Love the quote too, but at first I thought was by Walter/Wendy Carlos.

  • Great picture….

Though I can’t help thinking the town name is not exactly apt, and that the population might now be 17 lol

  • I’ve been to Harmony!  LOL

    Another lovely photo of yours.

  • RYC:  Thanks!

I went outside for lunch, and the sky is clearn and beautiful…   amazing, this Colorado weather!  But I am still thinking I’d be better in New Mexico or SoCal!

    Wanna trade?

  • Um, yeah, stupidity is another pet peeve of mine especially when exhibited in other people or projects.  Life is too short for stupidity.

Huzzah for Canada indeed. O Canada!  Have a blast!  Eat lots of good food.

  • Have you posted this before? It seems like I have seen this before…. “?”
