  • leaf hieroglyphics?

We spend most of our time and energy in a kind of horizontal thinking. We move along the surface of things…[but] there are times when we stop. We sit sill. We lose ourselves in a pile of leaves or its memory. We listen and breezes from a whole other world begin to whisper. James Carroll

  • This ties in beautifully with the book I am currently reading and where my mind is at…

    Love the pic.

  • tres cool (you).  oh, and the photo too.

  • Molly, you know what’s amazing? That you saw this in the first place. Nice photo.

  • have to agree with jacqui…that you saw it is amazing.
that you could and did capture it so well?  another amazing.

i keep learning from you and jodi and jacqui…what to watch for and when and…just to watch.

  • Looks like someone rubber-stamped it.

  • Ahh some little parasite marred the leaf.   The quote takes me back to the smells of leaves.

  • The faeries did it.    With their little pens made of bird’s wings they find fallen on the forest floor.     They make ink from the many musrooms they find or else they use petals from bright flowers.   Looks as if this might have been a deep blue hyacinth.

Very cool pic and the quote is quite provocative.  We sit still only long enough to catch a glimpse of the wonder that is not quite hidden all around us.

    Mom  :sunny:

  • beautiful! I only wish I knew exactly what they were saying.:heartbeat:

  • i like that James Carrol quote.

  • What a wonderful communion of picture and prose. You never seize to bring forth something beautiful.
Thank you once again for making us all stop and look about.

    PS..
I love the thoughts of dear Ava….

  • “Breezes from a whole other world.” Ahhh, and I listen, feel and go for it.

  • i love moments like that… what moments do you love?

  • Love that quote. We (I) move too fast to see the world and that is my loss. When I look carefully and closely with pause, I discover a few of the things similar to those that you photograph.

  • i was going to say that i had never seen the outsiders….but i think i have! it’s old isn’t it??? and it had emilio estevez didn’t it?? well either way, the quote was an awesome one, so thanks for sharing it!

i love the little pattern on the leaf above….it reminds me of those giant land sketches made by the indians thousands of years ago!

  • Do all photograpers have this eye for detail–see these things that the rest of us miss–or is it just the BEST photographers?  :)

  • :) yes! it’s cera….looking scared of the dark LOL :giggle:

  • What an amazing leaf!  Molly, you have an amazing eye.  Beautiful!

  • That sounds like my life. :)

  • How intersting. At first sight I thought it was frost. It caught my eye right away. Nice.

  • Maybe I can go on an allllllllllllll liquid (meaning wine) diet.  :)

  • if you’re going to IKEA, i’ve been a saint.
    hah.
i don’t know why we get so busy.
but all i know is that my work and duties have increased, but my time is still the same.
    humph.
maybe one day i’ll figure this out!
    love.

  • Someone has been cross stitching on those leafs. A grandmother lost in the woods?

Sometimes I see horrid, funny things without trying. After a second look at the leaf, I noticed the negative space of the section missing just to the right inside the leaf’s shape. It seems phallic which I find grossly funny and disturbing. Oh my.
