  • a closer look at Moonstone Beach…

I know no subject more elevating, more amazing, more ready to the poetical enthusiasm,
the philosophical reflection, and the moral sentiment than the works of nature. Where can we
meet such variety, such beauty, such magnificence? James Thomson

  • moonstone beach.  what a dreamy name.

  • You really need to explain the different colors.   Surely the black is not part of a plastic garbage bag?

I agree completely with the quote.    Nothing beats a sunrise or a sunset, or a rainy day, or anything that nature gives us.  And while I have profound respect for some of man’s creations, nothing beats the natural beauty around us.

I would absolutely LOVE this place!   Put that on the list of places to see on our next visit. :giggle:

    Love, Mom:love:

  • wow the colours are amazing!

  • looking at things up close is a wonderful experience!!!

  • That gravely sand is cool. I would like to see it even closer.

  • yeah… i agree. God is good..

  • wow, that’s a natural beach? What a bizarre yet incredible place! I’m going to have to pay a visit some day.

  • ugh.  yes, to write a leaf in its totality would be the single most incredible human endeavor.  :heartbeat:

  • I feel like such an ass because when I see your photographs all I can ever think to say is you are so. damn. talented.

  • Isn’t it amazing that, whether viewed from very close up or very far away, nature is infinitely varied and beautiful.  Thanks for sharing your view.

  • :sunny::yes:beeautiful…Sassy

    <TABLE width=450>
    <TBODY>
    <TR>
<TD align=left><TT>there are tides wash you to me
    wash me away,
    churn and sift
    churn and shift
    everchanging constance

    one
    for me salt flavoured real
brings me glass, the stuff of soft light dreams
    brown turned amber·red
    clear white·frost
more than green the pale of broken glint
and all the wet will make them shine
    as much as me
ankle deep just that much closer
    close to you

    there (again)
i watch you face the waves in welcome
as you decend beneath your legs
    turn and face me laughing
this is moment etched in heart as joy we share
    water touched in half immersion
moment’s cold to shiver’s warm submission
    salt to salt
    sand to sand
    and sparkle, eye to eye

these are tides lull me bold in neversoft
music of the moon they bring your voice in song
as i might speak between your words
    in weave of heart
    sift and churn
    shift and churn
    you course my lovedesire
    as star past arc’d horizon
to the place the sun descends
    days rest
    and nights of wonderhope
we are all in flow of time
    we are you are me

Sorry, i guess the link wouldn’t work so i had to cut and paste…

  • and the formatting didn’t work…sigh…argh.

  • i’m not first, but the sentiment is the same!!! it’s nice to see you, molly! i hope all is going very well with you!!!

  • I could stare at this photo for HOURS…

  • the most beautiful pebbles and glass to lay on a beach i think.

  • Molly, my eyes are tired. What is this? wink

  • I apologise for this generic message as that is what it is but because I have quite a few I want to visit I am posting it in this way.

I came to your site, today, thru the contest that is currently being held at Neuroticfitchmom’s site.  My name is Becca and I have a couple of sites on Xanga, my writing site LittleEgypt and my photographers site PhotoGraphics.  I began a new ring, ~Photo~Graphics~ specifically for photographers  in early September of this year.  The ring membership now stands at 22 members who use photos on their site often.  Some of the membership is novice and some are near professional and some are pros.  The ring has a good start with this group of talented people who truly enjoy posting their photography on their Xanga site, regularly and often.

    The About This Ring reads:

“A SERIOUS RING FOR SERIOUS PHOTOGRAPHERS meaning posting THEIR OWN photos on their blogs regularly not once in a blue moon, NOVICE or PROFESSIONAL. The ring is member approved to maintain quality and content. If you love photography and ACTIVELY DISPLAY your photos on your site with or without pleasant description and conversation, apply. Avoid a carnival atmosphere except in your photos, join our ring. NO PORNOGRAPHY”.

If you think this ring would be of interest to you, please visit it and check out the membership.  If after you view it, you think you might enjoy being a part of it, apply and I will open the door for your site to be admitted.  The ring is exclusive.  Anyone in Xanga  can visit the ring and its members but it’s membership is closed to any who do not fit into the criteria thereby it is a ring that is maintained, content and quality oriented.  I know you would be viewed as a welcome member of the group.

In re-checking the Xanga ring allowances, any site in Xanga can belong to up to 8 rings.  Click Here to view the ring or to apply for membership.

    Regards,

  • Oh Molly, the color!

I love the Nov. 3rd shot too..the suttle color everywhere…in the sand, in the sky, in the water…truly amazing.

And now how did you get the sea weed to ‘fly’ in the previous post?

  •…hmmm, don’t see any moons in those stones! Have I been blocked by some unseeing force? :p
…have read and “looked” at your previous posts. The beach photos transcend me. Thanks. MuSe

  • what an amazing way to capture the sentiment…

  • Beauty is definatly Everywhere. :heartbeat:

  • I surfed your way by means of the Xanga contest that neuroticfitchmom is hosting. Just dropped by to see what you were all about. Good luck in the contest!

  • Hi Molly,

That happens to be one of my favorite names.  A dear friend of mine named Molly happens to be a documentary photographer. Her Xanga site is Somecake.

I love this photo of Moonstone Beach. I visited a beach near Kingston, Rhode Island that was called Moonstone as well. The stones were beautiful, but not nearly as colorful as the ones you depict.

Your image is a jewel.  Very fantasia.  I imagine mermaids and pirates with Salvador Dali moustaches and barefoot children have all explored the treasures found here. And now you. Swell.

Thanks for dropping by my site, Supon. Hope you’ll visit again. I also have a second site, Table_Talk_Magazine that focuses on food writing and photography from a social and cultural perspective. Perhaps you might have images to contribute.  I’ve proposed the same to Frejaluna who you’re familiar with I’m sure.

    I’ll be visiting again soon.

    Best wishes.
