May we make wise choices in how and what we harvest,
    may earth’s weather turn kinder,
may there be enough food for all creatures,
may the diminishing light in our daytime skies
be met by an increasing compassion and tolerance.

  • may we indeed make wise choices…

  • that is so stunning :goodjob:

  • Your photographs literally leave me speechless.

  • The only problem with there being enough food for all creatures is that some creatures ARE food for other creatures!  :fun:

  • Great photo, Molly! I love the bright colors.   I find it interesting that as leaves die, they brighten and make a showing as if to tell us they are going out in that true “blaze of glory.”

The quote is very thought provoking and beautiful like a prayer for a perfect world.    Which we know does not exist and probably can’t, given human nature.

I went to the site and marked it for future visits.   It is surely image and text rich.   Almost too much to take in with just one visit.

  • I like the flame of leaves around the tree, the golden ones on the ground, and the ones an impossible spring green hinting at turning a pale orange across the picture frame…

  • Oh how I miss Autumn.

  • ahhh yay!  I can’t wait for autumn to begin again…

  • thanks for your support.

  • I don’t really understand your comment on my site. I can’t have an opinion of someone’s photos that is less than favorable? If every photo on xanga is *beautiful* and *amazing* than I kind of feel like any opinions given on my work are not really valid.

As far as my saying that I didn’t really see why she needed a DSLR… it wasn’t a judgment. I honestly thought that her photos were just snapshots of her day, etc. So, if that’s the case, I just think a DSLR is a kind of pricey for her purposes.

You know… I did leave her some advice on getting a non digital. You can always scan the negatives, which is mostly what I do these days, and I believe the results are more than acceptable: http://vertigo25.yayhooray.com/

Really, I was more trying to give her some advice and possibly give her some info on where she could get something that might actually be in her price range.

If my opinion on the quality of her pictures is different than yours, I make no apologies. Opinions are opinions and we are all entitled to them.

For example… I think your work is consistently good on so many levels. I think that you are technically a great photographer. You understand and use things like depth of field, color, composition, and abstraction to bring a certain life and emotion to your pictures. You have themes that run throughout your images, which tell me that you are building a story with pictures. You are really, really good, and I actually envy your mastery of macros and nature shots. If you do all these things out of instinct, than I envy you even more. It’s a rare trait.

To me (and this is key here…) *to me* her images look like she sees something, and thinks, “ooh I like that. I’ll take a picture of it,” and puts it dead center in the viewfinder, and *click*.

    That’s what I see.

Obviously a lot of people see something I don’t.

    It’s no big deal.

If it’s any consolation, I think her poetry is good.

  • newcastle…now that’s drinking. is there an eprop-to-beer chit conversion factor? happy friday

  • Incredible….both the pic and the poem…

  • I swear that looks like leaf garland wrapped around the tree.

  • Love, Love, Love the climbing colors. :) have a good weekend.

  • Ya the pasta dispense has one hole for “1 serving” and another hole for “two servings”.  It’s really quite handy and stores nicely in the cabinet, too.

  • I want to go where that picture is taken.  Can I go there?

Will you show it to me?

  • Hey Molly! Yeah, I decided that I’d try it again for a while. It’s been a year and well, I feel rested, refreshed, reinvented, and willing to give it another try.

There are still some sucky people at xanga, but that’s okay. I don’t care. There are some really great people here, too, and I’ve missed them. So, that’s why I decided to come back. Thanks for subbing to me again.

  • I don’t know that I can say anything that hasn’t been said about this amazing photo. Cheers

  • :sunny:ooooooooh!  :sunny:  Absolutely DIVINE!!!!    ..kytti..

  • Those pics are on the 101 freeway going through downtown L.A. The building top that is in the picture with the policeman mural is City Hall.

I heard the George Eliot quote in church yesterday. I did a little sleuthing on the ‘net and found out that George Eliot is a pseudonym for a female writer.

  • Madame Molly, i needed to see both this photograph and the quote today, thank you (as ever, as always). you, my friend, are an instrument of God, may you continue to do the work your spirit was put here for. namaste.

  • The red leaves spouting out of the trunk are fantastic, it is like the trunk has holes and the leaves have leaked out.
