Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. Taken while at my brother’s house in Austin, Texas. As I was admiring the flowers this little fella came right up to me

ooh…gorgeous…i guess this one’s got the equivalent of a butterfly eyepatch thing going on, eh? or a peg leg…don’t ask why i’m trying to make the bug out to be a pirate, i have no idea ;P
Hmmm…I guess I was wrong. There is at least one bug in the state of Texas that isn’t stuck to my windshield.
I wonder if it was because he’d gotten to close to one of our kind prior to this pic?
Your pictures make me feel peaceful. No small feat, there.
Wonderful shot. I have always had a fondness for butterflies…. one of natures greatest beauties… or so I say.. :sunny:
Oh, your talent…
That he has one wing, only you would notice.
:heartbeat:This is just awesome!! Great talent you have:goodjob:
what a great shot! That butterfly is so HUGE compared to the flower! :giggle: Really, really cool. I bet you were very excited when you saw the butterfly come to you.
Just beautiful.
Talk about being at the right place at the right moment! Exquisite, you lucky dog!
Great shot, and most of us creatures of nature have one or more wings missing, especially if we live long enough. Cheers.
You are lucky he stayed for the snap. They are elusive creatures. :heartbeat::heartbeat::heartbeat: Mom
:heartbeat:I always thought a butterfly would die without its wing.
So what an inspirational photo!

i love that quote. really love it. it’s sad he’s missing part of his wing, but clearly it doesn’t stop his happiness!
*sitting quietly* *eye twitches*

I wonder why it was missing a wing.
