Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. Emerson
I read this quote today on Chele_D’s site and was struck by it’s timeliness to my current state of being. Thank you Chele. This photo was also taken in the Badlands…where there seemed nothing but sand and rock…then I noticed this tiny succulent that had sprung up.

Lovely, simple succulent. And SUCCULENT is one of my favorite adjectives as well as being a sublime noun.
Thank you for that quote. It is so true and I will let it be my meditation in this situation as well as others.
Girl, did you blunder absurdly??!

Thank goodness for tomorrows!
Something is always growing…miracles
It’s amazing how life springs up from that barren land!
wonderful quote.
inspiring
Ever since I can remember I’ve been intrigued by little plants pushing up through asphalt and the like. Wonder of wonders.
A most fabulous quote. And what an awesome pic!!!!
Signs of life are most encouraging. Thanks for the thoughts and image.
You’re welcome, Sweetie. Thanks for the illustration. New life springing up from the barren earth. Very appropos. (((Hugs)))
fantastic macro shot!!!! the quote is definitely a good one!
beautiful – as always, your blogs are timeless.
I use to have one of those plants. I didn’t realize they grow outdoors. hmm…
that reminds me of my ice plant petals.
This is a first for me, dotter. I actually like your “stolen” quote better than the photo. Not that the pic isn’t a good one, as it shows your observant photographer’s eye, finding green where none is likely. It looks like portalacus, but could be any stubborn little succulent, grabbing what nutrients it can from arid soil.
Emerson’s advice should be taken to heart as a prescription for a happy life. No looking back. No “shoulda” thoughts to cause worry over the past. I like CheleD’s site very much too. She’s a smart cookie. Like you.
Some things are just to stubborn to give up.
