  • Still cold up there, huh? I suppose you don’t want to hear that it’s 85F here today, huh?

  • When I first read the caption, I thought it read “ducks frozen along St. Lawrence….”  and thought Holy Hell!  How horrible.  But I see my mistake now – and the picture is, in fact, not horrible.

Love the quote and always have.

  • LOL @ blueyoohoo :ee:

  • “You would think geese, ducks and gulls that stand on the ice for long periods of time would quickly freeze their feet. In order to prevent this, nature has provided that the arteries and veins in their feet and legs lie against each other. Cold returning blood from their veins is warmed by the arterial blood, thereby bringing about a rapid replacement of heat loss.” — Roy Luke

  • quack quack.

    or, to be bilingual:

    coin coin

  • ‘ello duckies!

Good advice, “paddle like the devil underneath.”

  • I love this!!! What a great photo AND quote combination!!! Makes me smile.

    <–See!

    (lickin’ ya back, dearie)

  • i’ve always wondered if ducks ever got frozen into the water. you know, like, maybe they fall asleep, dreaming little duck dreams, then the temperature drops, and they’re frozen into the ice!

  • Alice has ducks today too.  http://www.xanga.com/skin.asp?user=Alice

And when I took Mema to the foot doctor, his office walls were filled with wildlife photos and images, mostly waterfowl.

    Must be a ducky day!!

  • Is it still that cold over there? or is it an older pic? Yeah, dentists suck, but they’re necessary. I’m better so they do actually work :) mostly…
    xxx

  • Those ducks still look cold!

  • That’s just ducky!  :eprop: :eprop: :eprop: :eprop: :eprop: Cool, I was just playing with your smileys.
Thanks so much for the info on the printing out things. On watercolor paper no less! How cool! Wonder where I could get that done?

  • oops, forgot the real props,,,here ya go.

  • brrrr…that looks really cold!!!

  • Very nice picture and accompanying quote! Brrr, I’m looking forward to warmer weather…..

  • I always wonder what ducks do when the waters freeze over.

Great quote – I will try to remember that one.

Great picture to, but that goes without saying at your site doesn’t it dear?

  • I love the combination of this photo with the quote.  There is a pair, male and female, of Mallard ducks that come to our yard every single day.  They know that I will always have corn for them.

  • and I’ve notice wing creatures headed north…great shot

  • Don’t you wonder what ducks think of ice? Good quotem Maintaining that surface calm is hard sometimes.

  • Ah, tough and true.  Beautiful picture.

  • …great pic, Molly. Ah – cute little baby duck. I’m amazed how long winter is staying with you in Montreal. And I thought  my area was bad! Tell me, do you have much hair left? I’d have none left.
…i know that quote as it was enclosed with a gift of a pendant. Good quote, esp w/ your pic. :ee:  MuSe
