  • I felt like seeing a sunset today…actually I just felt like seeing something beautiful. I suppose that’s one of the nice things about photos, is that they can transport us to someplace we love or someplace that comforts us, or to a time that is particularly memorable. This was a sunset taken along the road between Boston and Montreal last year, and although I shot it while in a moving vehicle, I think it captures the moment…or at least the way I remember it.

**Alot of people wanted to know how I did this…I really didn’t do anything! As a matter of fact, I didn’t even adjust this photo…and the dark part at the top was just clouds I guess. I saw this alot when driving in from Vermont to Canada. It seemed the sky just separated! One more sidenote, it was taken out of the top of the truck via the sunroof!

  • a terrific sunset!!! i don’t think i can ever tire of watching the sky!!! (except maybe those grey days that we get alot of over here in england)

  • I like…

  • Oh my goodness! Looks like half the sky in totally on fire!

WOW. That’s a greeeeeeat photo, hon!!! (As always…)

  • Some moments are so precious and so lovely or so powerful that we cannot suck all of the juice out of it in that megasecond it exists.  With a photo, we have the power to, in a sense, stop time!  How awesome is that?  And the tender look in a child’s eyes, or the comedy of a hiding cat, or the almost painful beauty of a sunset can be captured!  And we can turn to that moment again and again, and receive each time some change in our present.  Thank you for sharing so many lovely moments with us!

  • Go Molly!    I see the curtain of night falling as the sun takes his bow.   Ol’ Sol will have his go around the earth to once again greet us the next morning.

Is that a miracle or what?

  • Wow!  Looks like an ocean of fire in the sky.

  • Reliving moments. That’s what we’re allowed to do, indeed. I wonder if it’s a bad thing that some of us (cough*me*cough) do it all the time?

  • This is a dramatic sunset. I am a big sucker of sunsets. They just have such a transcendent quality. Every sunset is unique, sometimes soothing, sometimes powerful. I get philosophical whenever I watch the colorful sky being painted with myriads of colors.

  • Taken from a moving vehicle??? I’m impressed, it’s such a great shot!

  • How did you do that? The black on the top?
    Beautiful.

  • Toester, ~I~ didn’t do anything, I shot what Mother Nature gave me!

  • That reminds me of a passage from Le Petit Prince:

“J’aime bien les couchers de soleil.  Allons voir un coucher de soleil.”

(I like sunsets.  Let’s go see one.)

Not quite sure on the exactness of the quote, but that was the general idea.

  • Emily-I didn’t remember that in The Little Prince, but I happen to have a copy handy You were very close, and in further reading was: “You know – one loves the sunset, when one is so sad…” I think that’s how I’m feeling today, just wanted to see something miraculous.

  • Mary Proppins!

  • Wow, Molly….gorgeous and dramatic.

Thanks for that so-easy-I-feel-like-a-dork recipe for the squash.  We have a farm nearby that has amazing varieties and I always want to buy some….they’re so darn pretty….

  • BEAUTIFUL!  @-}-}–

  • …when it comes to beautiful, Molly, you are a Master. Thank you. MuSe

  • I was also wondering about the black at the top of the picture. ~Cool~ pic. Reminds me of a quote by Arsene Houssaye:
“We must always have old memories and young hopes.

  • Photos are wonderful aren’t they? You have so many that speak to me in so many different ways. I really love your love (I don’t want to say work as I can tell you love photography).

Anyway, you asked a long time ago who Zack was in my Valentine’s story. Zack = Prozack

    Take care!
