There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening, that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this experience is unique. And, if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost. Martha Graham

Whoa! What a great quote! Love the picture too. I’ve always liked the contrast between the dark, wet, stark winter trees and snow. I’ve used that several times in stories that I’ve written. Of course putting it into words can’t show it nearly as good as a b&w picture.
Very striking still life. The cold almost comes through my screen and puts those icy fingers on me!
Cold here. For here, I mean. About 50 and raining. Probably seems like a heat wave to you. But we might get a freeze in the next few days and that will mean ice all over.
Stay warm!
thanks for this.
great message! and an awesome photo, too! there’s nothing like the beauty of a “bleak” winterscape, eh?
Oh, that w-i-n-t-e-r-y feel here! Very nice.
COOL!!! Any woodpeckers in there?
I really like the quote BTW.
You stole that quote from my wall!
A dance of trees…
Who needs art when nature is so artistic? Great photo. Tom
Wonderful black and white… solemn and grand.
Profound thought. And how sad to lose something as precious as one individual’s contribution.
The pic reminds me of a close up of hair.
I love it!
I see spirits in these tree trunks…..beautiful!
Wonderful quote to go with….

Dang, Ms. South… your photos actually make me jealous of the fact you get snow and ice there. We’re supposed to get *gasp* snow! here in austin Friday and my camera-trigger-finger is itching!
i love black and whites… and trees
and snow
your picture makes me think
what an incredible quote…
I wish I had your talent for taking great pictures!
I enjoy all your pictures and while I don’t always say so it is usually due to a pressed for chair time reason.
This one reminds me of a crowd pressing for warmth. Yeah I know crowds don’t press for warmth in the human kingdom.
In reality it makes it more understandable why people thin trees to allow growth in the open, but a woods has its own charm.
…Molly, perfect coupling of pic to quote. Gorgeous photo, the trees take on the illusion of people.

…you have the opportunity to see one of Guimard’s creation at Square Victoria. Is that far from you?
That’s a beautiful intertwining of branches.
Did you get a chance to try some acrylics, I’d be interested in hearing what you think to the medium?
I love that picture! It’s something haunting and silent.
wonderful photo!
