This is the Basillica which is at the top of the Oratoire. Services are also held here, but for Christmas season it was used for the choral shows.
Too bad no one was playing this organ!! Can you believe the size of these pipes??!!
This is one of the 200 nativity scenes (or creches) from over 100 countries on display in the museum. This one is from Switzerland.
This one is from Vietnam.
This concludes the Oratoire tour! Hope everyone reading this has a Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! *clink!*
Happy New Year! *clink!*
Great photos, kiddo! One of these days I would love to see it. I especially like the organ. Talk about power….
I know you and Sherry and your houseguests are going to enjoy your time together. Mmmmm. Eggplant garlic soup. Sounds delicious.
I’ve been to this oratoire. I remember it being very regal.
Going down memory lane here…
July 1971 (I was 11 years old)…
I visited the Oratoire St-Joseph with my family as part of a summer vacation trip. I still have the brochure, stapled into a handmade “Trip Book” I made myself.
I didn’t record anything about the Oratoire itself in the (separate) “Trip Diary” that I also kept, but I did note that I slept on the floor in the living room with my two cousins (who lived in Montreal). My brother Marc (who would have been 4) slept on the couch but “fell on me many times”. Wonder if that was intentional, the little rascal!
Very good photos which I presume you took. Cheers Portia

Great photos….I love the creche from Vietnam….just lovely.
Thank you for the photos. These are some things I would never have seen otherwise.
Happy New Year to You!
*drool* how BEAUTIFUL!…
when can I come visit, when can I come visit, when can I come visit?
Peace, joy, and music to you in the new year!
How do you suppose they clean those windows way up there?
The organ pipes would have no dust from the power within. bg… I can tell you the size of those pipes would be very expensive. Our big Methodist Church here is saving up for more to add to theirs.
Kinda glad I don’t belong to any of these big churches, collection basket must go around a lot more than it does at mine. heaven knows it does often enough at mine.
Appreciate you sharing what I will never see otherwise. Happy Safe New Year!
Beautiful!
