  • Winter Solstice, a time for remembering and appreciating the year that is ending, letting go of the “bad stuff” in the past that we want to leave behind, and then setting an intention or a direction for the new year.

  • Happy Solstice.

  • …marvelous photo giving life to your words! Indeed, onward in new directions. I love recalling life by “In the year of _____.” Not by date but by the main event. Love and energy, MuSe

  • A tall glass of “Belle Gueule”…

Like MuSe, I recall life by events (“In the year of _____.”) and not dates…

  • It’s been too many years for me to keep count anymore.   I keep count of the days I am privileged to wake to a new one.     I remember events, but not the years in which they occurred.    I try not to look back too much as it is very hazy back there and anyway it causes me to bump into people!

I remember when you were born.   Does that count?   I can only do the year by counting your age, my fingers and then I usually get it wrong.    I told the nurse I was pretty sure you weren’t ours, as we just had boys and I wasn’t sure we could make a little girl.   Lucky us!    We got to keep you.

    Pretty pic.  Naturally!

  • Amom: I’m glad she came out a girl, otherwise I wouldn’t have a sister!

  • What a new angle to look at the sun! Beautiful and moody!

  • Joyous Saturnalia!

  • I love what you wrote with your picture today.

  • By the way that was my very first comment on Xanga all by my pretty little self, and, in my OWN name/account!

  • I didn’t even know!

  • Happy Weekend.  Great pic. You have the neatest pictures!

  • I knew, it was actually announced on our t.v. that it was the winter Solstice, or was it summer over here which it is ,can’t remember now. Guess it stays the same wherever you are. Cheers Portia

  • Great advice in your quote – just what I needed. Great photo too.

  • I’m amazed to discover that winter solstice is the “official” start of winter.  Heck, isn’t November winter?  It sure is in England, with grey damp chilly days through till April.  tom
