Good for you! How exciting (yes, I get excited over cameras
) Can’t wait to hear how you like it…
great quote, cant wait to see new photos — yay for you!
thanks, april
Love new cameras, it’s another excuse for going out and taking MORE photographs -to try it out!
So great that you’ll finally have a DSLR.
Great camera, but it’s technically not a DSLR since there is no mirror or pentaprism (and for some purists – no optical viewfinder or capability of interchangeable lenses). Congrats on the new toy!
*sees previous comment* It’s not a DSLR?! He’s wrong, right? I know that you wouldn’t buy one that doesn’t have interchangeable lenses or an optical viewfinder.
By the way, I noticed that you said it’s being shipped. Did you get to try it out at the store before ordering it? That is what helped me to make my final decision. The Nikon was quite a bit heavier than the Canon, kind of clunky, but I assume that I tried a different Nikon than you are getting.

he is right. since all i’ve been looking at are the dslr’s, i just automatically typed it!!
i decided against a dslr because, well i already have other film dslr’s and would probably never get other lenses, so why do it? (for me anyway) also, being as i have several cameras, this will not be my last digicam…call this the “interim digicam”
… for the money and megapixel i decided on the Nikon 8800. i haven’t ever held one, so you bring up a very good point…
*sigh*…i am ~so~ over researching cameras/prices… we’ll see how this one works out for me.
ack, well that’s a pretty crappy review :: gulp ::
i’ve read a couple of other reviews that were much more favorable…
You make a good point, Molly. You DO have other cameras including a film SLR. And, a lot of people DO love the 8800. My only suggestion, and I’m sure that you thought of this, is to look carefully at the return policy. Try it out, and if you are disappointed, you can always return it.
I don’t mean to be a naysayer. I’m hoping that you will love your new camera, and you probably will.
What in the world is that? A rhubarb tree? Gorgeous.
Idunno.. Steve’s Digicams gave the 8800 a pretty good review. Between that and checking out his fullsized pics, I’d say it’s a pretty good camera.
New toys are the best :coolman:
now that is a beautiful pic
I’ve seen lots of great pictures taken with the 8800, so I don’t think there’s anything to worry about. I think the primary concerns is whether it fits well in your hand and works well enough for you. I’m just assuming you’re not going to try shooting birds or football games with this camera.
What film SLR(s) do you have? If they’re recent autofocus lenses, then maybe you could have gotten a DSLR from that manufacturer.
a refridgerator tree?
what camera are you currently using?
i think i want to follow you around…
you seem to find the most interesting things to shoot.
and my two cents about cameras, it doesn’t have as much to
do with what camera you’re shooting with as much as it does
having an artists eye, which with out a doubt you do.
(oh, and i love my nikon)…. *wink enjoy…

ya ya ~ a new camera is always nice ~ jack

about the quote.. i like it when
everyone in in the same moment
I just wrote this comment on anothers site..
Failure lies conceded in every success
Success in every failure:spinning:
MY judgment of my life situation often prevents me from accepting .. what is present .. here and now …. is being
When ever i get lost in mind identification I am at times the greatest failure … and others… the pinicle of success..
at “times” my lack of presence feels indeed like i have failed and yet this very observation, that i am not present .. that moment ..is the beginning …of the end .. of the illusion of duality
“all that arises passes away
all conditions
are impermament”
of all the traps of the mind ..
what is more helpful than failure
and
what is more harmful than success
`To being

I love Wallace and Gromit
What!? No formula for success? What about a Nikon Coolpix 8800? Surely that’s a formula for success. No? Ah well, it’s a nice camera.
Technically, if you look through the same lens that you take the picture with, it’s an SLR.
I use a Nikon D1 for work (and borrow it for myself!), it has interchangeable lenses, it gets a lot of debris on the ccd screen. The only way to remove the stuff is send it off for a service -or become VERY proficient at photoshop!
Straight shot
Debris marked
OK, I can live with the lens flair (after all, you get that with film too) but all the other stuff…
Hey you.
oh, I sent 15 questions. Too much?
lisa
is that manzanita? nice!
Oh, that is a strange tree… But nicely captured as usual.
Good luck with the new cam!
My husband would give anything for moss like that to start growing on the landscaping rocks in our yard.
Yay! Have fun with your new camera!!!
I remember this one. I love the look of manzanita.
With that new camera you can do weddings now huh?
