No matter how long we exist, we have our memories. Points in time which time itself cannot erase.
Suffering may distort my backward glances, but even to suffering, some memories will yield nothing
of ther beauty or their splendor. Rather they remain as hard as gems. Anne Rice, “Blood and Gold”

I really do like that quote… and your photos are always so beautiful… thank you.
I do enjoy the photo. I’m still pondering the quote. The more I ponder it, the more it troubles me, but I have no alternative solution to offer to it either.
what a great tree! gnarly, dude…
Stunning – makes me want to climb…
Not enough branches close together for me to climb, but I have great tree climbing memories. Used to love it.
Fish that hug? I have seen kissing fish, but never huggers. ;-D
Beautiful B&W.
I like your different angle and perspective. :goodjob:
you see such beauty in things, i’ll spare you that.

your pictures are awesome, i love the perspective of this tree.
What a wise looking old tree! The quote gives plenty to chew on.
Trees…are one of my favorite things in life. Thank you for sharing this…. ::sigh:: ..kytti..
I really like the pictures you take. You have a wonderful eye for what will make an interesting photo. Thanks for sharing.
This tree remembers when it wasn’t so gnarly, but I think it’s beautiful just the way it is. Awesome composition!
Love your photos. Glad you stopped by my site. I’ll check you out more later today. Gosh, you have been a member since forever!
If it weren’t for the leaves I would guess that it was a shot of my spine – from the bottom to top.
Love your quotes and also your pictures.

That trunk resembles a segmented hose.
Re: your comment
Starbucks isn’t my favorite. They’re just everywhere and it’s one of the easiest place to go while at work.
It’s A Grind… sounds interesting. Where can I find one?

This is another keeper. Could almost pass for an optical illusion of a giant snake crawling across a cracked desert. (It is a tree, right?
)
nice. nice. nice.
That’s a gnarly erection.
you get a gold star today!
lovely!

i really like this tree, Madame…it has such personality, such character, such presence. and the quote, i read that book and thought it was really remarkable (and i haven’t read alot of the Vampire books she’s written) and well written. look at you, so well read and with such a visionary eye…what a blessing you are.
I’m always a sucker for a good b&w photo of a tree with character.
I dig this shot. I’ve always like looking at trees from underneath to see what patterns they form against the sky. Kind of like looking up skirts, ha ha, for a point of view not always expected. Not that I do that…look up skirts.
I have a striking series of images from the Arboretum in Jamaica Plain, Boston where I stepped inside this canopy of limbs that draped almost to the ground, bare of leaves during winter, and snapped shots. Almost like the twisted spines of an umbrella with no fabric.
Thanks for sharing your shot.
