  • St. Joseph’s Oratoire Grotto, Montreal, Quebec

See how nature – trees, grass, grow in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun,
how they move in silence…We need silence to be able to touch souls.
    Mother Teresa

  • Wild hare in South Dakota

All good things are wild, and free. Henry David Thoreau

  • Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. Emerson

I read this quote today on Chele_D’s site and was struck by it’s timeliness to my current state of being. Thank you Chele. This photo was also taken in the Badlands…where there seemed nothing but sand and rock…then I noticed this tiny succulent that had sprung up.

  • Houseboat on the Mississippi River

A home is not a mere transient shelter: its essence lies in the personalities of the people
    who live in it.
    H. L. Mencken

  • Niagra on the Lake, Ontario, Canada

I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving — we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it — but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor. Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.

  • Another Niagra photo, under the falls.

Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. Antoine de Saint-Exupery

  • Niagra Falls, Ontario, Canada

I’m back! The roadtrip was fantastic! This was the first stop, and photos just can’t express the magnitude of the falls, and the ~sound~. It was incredible! I’ll try to post more this week, but my system isn’t set up all the way.
